By day, Marek Záhorec works as a physical therapist, supporting handicapped children and recovering accident victims. When he returns home to his wife and newborn, it’s time to heat up bottles, change diapers, and care for his budding family. Born a Slovak, married to an Italian, and now a resident of Austria, Záhorec is accustomed to slipping through cultures, identities, and languages. But it’s after dark that a wholly different side of him emerges. As coffee brews and the world goes to sleep, he locks himself away in his study to dream up hair-raising adventures, ruthless antagonists, and heroes ready to face the unthinkable.
Záhorec’s debut publication is an anthology of short horror and thriller stories, Tales from Portville. His next release will be The Moment Before Dying, a mob thriller set in America during Prohibition.
